During peak period (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas), how does the current warehouse and fleet manage the spike in volume?
One way I have seen is that the companies engage part time temporary staffs in the warehouse. These staffs will be helping out to do picking and packing. The operations may also get in temporary drivers to help with the deliveries.
In some firms, the office staffs are asked to assist the operations during the peak period.
But the planning and forecast for the spike and resources required typically are planned way ahead (probably in Q2 - Q3).
